San Carlos Veterinary HospitalThe San Carlos Veterinary Hospital has been in existence for 33 years. It was established by a Hungarian immigrant, Dr. Julius Szekeres, in 1967. Dr. Bruce Persky began working as an associate veterinarian at SCVH in 1975. He had a special interest and three years of training in cardiovascular, neuro-, and micro-surgery. Dr. Dean Gahring moved to San Diego and began practicing at a veterinary hospital in National City in 1976. Dr. Gahring was the first Board Certified veterinary surgeon in San Diego County. In 1978, Drs. Persky and Gahring purchased the San Carlos Veterinary Hospital and have been partners ever since. Dr. Stan Kus has been an associate veterinarian for 16 years and has special interests in radiology, surgery, endoscopy, general and feline medicine. Dr. Laurel Nishida joined our staff after having worked as a small animal veterinarian in San Diego for nine years. Her special interests are in general and feline medicine.
The Hospital has been extensively remodeled twice in the last 20 years to keep up with the demands of a very progressive veterinary practice. All of the doctors are actively involved in continuing education, teaching, and pursuing the very latest in treatments, diagnostic techniques, and state-of the-art equipment. These facts lead us to our mission statement: More than twenty years of experience assures the public quality and compassionate veterinary care for its pets.
